Nord-Elm

Nord-Elm is a federation of municipalities in Helmstedt, Lower Saxony. It is named after the Elm, on the northern edge of which it is located. Helmstedt (district)

Helmstedt is a district in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is bounded by (from the west and clockwise) the district of Wolfenbüttel, the City of Braunschweig, the District of Gifhorn, the City of Wolfsburg and the State of Saxony-Anhalt.

Bornum am Elm

Bornum am Elm is a village of about 850 inhabitants in the city of Königslutter am Elm, Lower Saxony, Germany. It was a municipality until 1974, when it was joined to Königslutter. Bornum is situated near the northern edge of the Elm hills on the bank of the Scheppau stream, at an elevation of 135 meters. Neighboring places are Scheppau, Lauingen, and Abbenrode, as well as Königslutter proper. Industries include farming, tourism, and construction.

Schunter

The Schunter is a river in Lower Saxony, Germany, with a length of 58 km, right tributary of the Oker. It originates in the Elm hills near Räbke west of Helmstedt, flows northward to Süpplingenburg, then turns westward and joins the Oker at Schwülper, downstream of Braunschweig (Brunswick). Another municipality on the Schunter is Lehre. The river was first mentioned as Schuntra in a 781 deed. The name may be of Slavic origin as sukątora means "with many angles".
