Battle of Soltau

The Battle of Soltau (German: Schlacht bei Soltau) took place on 28 June 1519 and was the military climax of the Hildesheim Diocesan Feud which lasted from 1519–1523. Some sources describe it as "the last knights' battle" (Die letzte Ritterschlacht). It is also often described as the "last medieval feud". The feud had all the hallmarks of a typical dispute between noble families of that time.

Pietzmoor

The Pietzmoor (literally "Pietz Bog") is named after the little village of Pietz, and is the largest contiguous area of bog on the Lüneburg Heath in northern Germany. The bog lies southeast of the town of Schneverdingen and is bordered to the south by the village of Heber. The Pietzmoor has an average peat depth of 4 m, its maximum thickness is 7.5 m. The bog is the source of the rivers Böhme and Veerse.

Wiedingen

Wiedingen is a village in the borough of Soltau in the district of Soltau-Fallingbostel in the German state of Lower Saxony. The village has 142 inhabitants . The hamlets of Ellingen and Wieheholz belong to the municipality of Wiedingen.

Heide Park

The Heide Park Resort is a theme park in Soltau, Lower Saxony, Germany. With an overall area of over 850,000 m² (210 acres), it is one of the biggest German amusement parks and the biggest in Northern Germany. The theme park is part of the British-based Merlin Entertainments. The current manager of the park is Hannes W. Mairinger.

Scream (Heide Park)

The Gyro-Drop Tower Scream is an amusement ride in the Heide Park, Soltau, Germany. With a height of 103 metres to the pinnacle it is the tallest "gyro drop" free-fall ride in the world. Scream was constructed of the observation tower II of Heide Park, which was built in 1992 and was then called 'Gyrotower'. This modification was accomplished by a company called Intamin between October 2002 and April 2003 at a cost of €7.5 million. The inauguration took place on 24 April 2003.
