Westerholt Power Station
Westerholt Power Station was a coal fired power station in Gelsenkirchen-Westerholt, Germany. The power plant consisted of two units built in the 1960s, each capable of producing 150 MW of electricity. Its smokestack, built in 1981, was over 300 metres (1000 feet) tall, making it Germany's tallest chimney at the time. The power station was decommissioned on May 13, 2005. The chimney was demolished on Sunday, December 3, 2006, at 10:53 a.m.

Veltins-Arena (originally Arena AufSchalke) is a football stadium in Gelsenkirchen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It opened in 2001, as the new home ground for German Bundesliga club Schalke 04. It hosted the 2004 UEFA Champions League final and 5 matches in the 2006 FIFA World Cup, including a quarter-final. It has a league capacity of 61,482 (standing and seated) and an international capacity of 53,951 (seated only). The stadium has a retractable roof and a retractable pitch.

The Gemeinschaftsgrundschule Im Brömm is a primary school in Gelsenkirchen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The school was built in 1913 as Katholische Volksschule – Josefschule. After having been destroyed in World War II the school was rebuilt in the 1950s. In 1963 the school got a gym and an indoor pool. On the schoolyard was built a mini-soccerfield in the year 2008.
