1988 Remscheid A-10 crash
The 1988 Remscheid A-10 crash occurred on December 8, 1988, when a United States Air Force attack jet, an A-10 Thunderbolt II crashed onto a residential area in the city of Remscheid, West Germany. The aircraft crashed into the upper floor of an apartment complex. In addition to the pilot, five people were killed. Fifty others were injured, including many seriously. According to press reports the plane was engaged in a low-altitude flight exercise.

Müngsten Bridge
Müngsten Bridge is the highest steel railroad bridge in Germany. The bridge is 107 metres high and spans the valley of the river Wupper, connecting the cities of Remscheid and Solingen. This stretch is part of the Wuppertal-Oberbarmen–Solingen railway. It is used exclusively by the Regionalbahn service Der Müngstener (RB 47). Originally the bridge was named Kaiser-Wilhelm-Brücke (Emperor Wilhelm Bridge) to honour Emperor Wilhelm I.
