Vennhausen is an urban borough of Düsseldorf. It borders on Unterbach, Eller and Gerresheim. A few hundred years ago the area was swamp, moor and fen, hence the name for the settlement Vennhausen, which is derived from "Venn", a Low German word for fen. Vennhausen became a settlement much later than its neighbouring bouroughs, starting in the Tannenhof. In 1809 Vennhausen became a part of the communal district of Gerresheim due to the Napoleonic area reforms at that time.

Ludenberg is an urban borough of Düsseldorf. It borders on Gerresheim, Grafenberg, Hubbelrath and Rath. Until the beginning of the 19th century Ludenberg belonged to the mayors office of Gerresheim together with Erkrath, Vennhausen, Unterbach, Morp, Dorp and Bruchhausen. In 1852 the office of Gerresheim was divorced into Gerresheim-city and Gerresheim-countryside. So Ludenberg became an independent village with its own mayor.
