The Großes Torfmoor (also called the Hiller Moor or Nettelstedter Moor) is a raised peat bog or moor located in the northeast of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (in the district of Minden-Lübbecke) in Germany south of the Mittelland Canal. It is between the town of Lübbecke and the community of Hille. The moor is a nature reserve and is under special protection from the European Union because of the bird species living there.

Minden Land
Minden Land is a cultural landscape in East Westphalia, the northeastern part of North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany. It covers the four-fifths of the district of Minden-Lübbecke that lie on the North German Plain and is clearly bounded to the south by the Weser Hills and Wiehen Hills, where it adjoins the Ravensberg Land and the Upper Weser Valley. Its other boundaries are delineated by those of the district.

Battle of Minden
The Battle of Minden—or Tho(r)nhausen—was fought on 1 August 1759, during the Seven Years' War. An army fielded by the Anglo-German alliance commanded by Field Marshal Ferdinand, Duke of Brunswick, defeated a French army commanded by Marshal of France Louis, Marquis de Contades. In Britain, the victory was considered one of several fortuitous events that constituted the Annus Mirabilis of 1759.
