Düsseldorf-Holthausen

Holthausen is an urban borough of Düsseldorf. It is located south of Oberbilk, west of Reisholz, north of Benrath and east of Itter and Himmelgeist. An natural border is the river Rhine. Holthausen's history is connected to the history of Itter, Himmelgeist, Benrath, Wersten and Bilk. Until the 18th century its name was Langenweyer. First settlements in that area are form the 9th century before Christ, with countinous settlements existing since the 2nd century after Christ.

Schloss Benrath

Schloss Benrath is a Rococo maison de plaisance near Düsseldorf, Germany, erected for the Elector Palatine Charles Theodore by his garden and building director and garden supervisor, Nicolas de Pigage. It was begun in 1755, and by the time it was completed in 1770, some elements of Neoclassicism were detectable in its interior finishing. Two symmetrical wings flank the central corps de logis. The Museum for European Garden Art was founded in the east wing of Benrath in 2002.

Düsseldorf-Reisholz

Reisholz is an urban borough of Düsseldorf. It is located in the south of the city, bordering Holthausen, Benrath, Hassels and the river Rhine. Reisholz is an industrial part of the city. Its history started in 1905 by creation of a harbour to the Rhine, a goods station and an industrial area by the Industrie-Terrains Düsseldorf-Reisholz (IDR) company. Many chemical factories, engine building industries, paper mills, petrochemical manufacturers and an oil refinery went to Reisholz.

Düsseldorf-Hassels

Hassels is an urban borough of Düsseldorf. Its original name was "Hasselholt" what means hazelnut wood in older German language. In the 17th century only the first part of the name survived. Hassels belonged to the Knights of Eller. Later Hassels became part of the office of mayor of Benrath. In 1929 Hassels became - together with Benrath - part of Düsseldorf. Large settlements were built in Hassels in the 1920s, the 1950s and in the 1970s. The old church from the 17th century no longer exists.
