European Astronaut Centre

The European Astronaut Centre (EAC) is a centre of the European Space Agency and home of the European Astronaut Corps. It is located in Cologne, Germany, and is sub-divided in to four separate arms, these being Training, Medicine, Education and PR, and Astronaut Management. It provides training facilities to the European astronauts, particularly regarding ESA hardware for the ISS such as Columbus and the ATV.

Sieg

The Sieg is a river in North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany named after the Sigambrer. It is a right tributary of the Rhine and 153 kilometres in length. The source is located in the Rothaargebirge mountains. From here the river runs southwestwards to the city of Siegen and the hills of Siegerland, both named after the river. Further west the Sieg valley forms the boundary of the Bergisches Land (northern) and Westerwald (southern).

Cologne Bonn Region

The Cologne/Bonn Region, also known as Cologne/Bonn Metropolitan Region (Metropolregion Köln/Bonn) is a metropolitan area in North Rhine-Westfalia, Germany, covering the cities of Cologne, Bonn and Leverkusen, as well as the districts of Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis, Oberbergischer Kreis, Rhein-Erft-Kreis and Rhein-Sieg-Kreis. The region covers an area of 3,839 km² with 3,13 million inhabitants (population density 815/km²).

Cologne/Bonn Airport station

Köln/Bonn Flughafen is a railway station on a loop off the Cologne–Frankfurt high-speed line in Cologne, Germany that connects Cologne Bonn Airport to long-distance trains, most of them ICE services following the Cologne-Frankfurt high-speed rail line. Trains on line S13 of the Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn also stop at the station.

Tannenbusch

Tannenbusch is a section of Bonn, Germany with approx. 17,000 inhabitants. It is split between the subsections Alt-Tannenbusch and Neu-Tannenbusch. The roads in Tannenbusch are almost exclusively named after places in the former East German areas (e.g. Schlesienstrasse, Oppelner road, west Prussia route). Around 1949 – 1960 there was a US military camp in Tannenbusch.
