Rothenburg Ferry

The Rothenburg Ferry is a cable ferry across the Saale at Rothenburg in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Technically, the ferry is a reaction ferry, which is propelled by the current of the water. The ferry is attached to a floating cable which is anchored firmly in the riverbed upstream of the ferry. To operate the ferry, it is angled into the current, causing the force of the current to swing the ferry across the river on the cable.

Wettin Castle

Wettin Castle is a former castle that stood near the town of Wettin on the Saale river in Germany, and which is the ancestral home of the House of Wettin, the dynasty that included several royal families, including that of the current ruling family of the United Kingdom. In 982, Dedo I (d. 1009) and Frederick (d. 1017), sons of Dietrich, count of Hassegau or Hosgau, received lands taken from the Wends, including the county (or Gau) of Wettin on the right bank of the Saale.

Bösenburg

Bösenburg is a village in the Mansfeld-Südharz rural district in the German land Saxony-Anhalt. It is a part of the town Gerbstedt and is located 5.5 km south of Gerbstedt. Through Bösenburg flows the stream Fleischbach.

Westlicher Saalkreis

Westlicher Saalkreis was a Verwaltungsgemeinschaft ("collective municipality") in the Saalekreis district, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It was situated west of Halle (Saale). The seat of the Verwaltungsgemeinschaft was in Salzmünde. It was disbanded on 1 January 2010. The Verwaltungsgemeinschaft Westlicher Saalkreis consisted of the following municipalities: Beesenstedt Bennstedt Fienstedt Höhnstedt Kloschwitz Lieskau Salzmünde Schochwitz
