Ilsenburg (Harz) was a Verwaltungsgemeinschaft ("collective municipality") in the district of Harz, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. The seat of the Verwaltungsgemeinschaft was in Ilsenburg. Ilsenburg Abbey
Ilsenburg Abbey was a monastery of the Benedictine Order located at Ilsenburg near Wernigerode, in Saxony-Anhalt in Germany. The monastery was built on land given for the purpose in 1003 by Emperor Henry III to the Bishop of Halberstadt, and had been founded by 1009. In 1525 it was stormed, plundered and largely demolished by rebellious peasants; the monks were driven away, and did not return for several months.

Butterberg (Ilsenburg)
The Butterberg in the Harz district of the German state of Saxony-Anhalt lies about halfway between Ilsenburg and Drübeck, at a height of 279 m above NN. From the top, the Harz Foreland and the ridges of the Harz mountains may be seen. The view of Ilsenburg however is almost completely hidden by the nearby Eichholz wood. The hill falls more steeply away on its southern side than on the northern slopes and lies immediately next to the old B 6 federal road (today the L85).

Bäumlersklippe
The Bäumlersklippe is a crag and one of the so-called Harzklippen (Harz rock formations) in the Harz National Park southwest of Ilsenburg. Whilst in former times it was a popular observation point, which the remains of an enclosing fence bear witness to, today beech and spruce trees have grown up around it. The crag derives its name from the hunter, Bäumler. He is supposed to have stabbed and killed his only son out of jealousy and then thrown himself off this rock to his death.

Drübeck Abbey
Drübeck Abbey is a former Benedictine monastery for nuns in Drübeck on the northern edge of the Harz in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt. Today it is a conference venue for the Evangelical Church of the Church Province of Saxony with an educational-theological institute and pastoral centre.
