Selenter See

The Selenter See is the second-largest lake in the North German state of Schleswig-Holstein, after the Großer Plöner See. It lies at an elevation of 37 m above sea level and has an area of 22.4 km². The Selenter See, which lies near the village of Selent in the district of Plön, is 34 m deep. The lake drains into the Baltic Sea through the Hohenfelder Mühlenau, only 10 km long, to the north and by the Salzau to the northwest.

Wagria

Wagria (German: Wagrien, Waierland or Wagerland) is the northeastern part of Holstein in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein, corresponding roughly to the districts of Plön and Ostholstein. The word "Wagria" is derived from the Slavic Lechites tribe of Wagri, which meant "those who live by the bays".

Plön is a district in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is bounded by (from the east and clockwise) the districts of Ostholstein and Segeberg, the city of Neumünster, the district of Rendsburg-Eckernförde, the city of Kiel and the Baltic Sea.

Lebrade Pond Bird Sanctuary

The Lebrade Pond Bird Sanctuary (German: Vogelfreistätte Lebrader Teich) is a nature reserve in the north German state of Schleswig-Holstein, that lies within the district of Plön, about 7 kilometres north of the town of Plön. The reserve is part of the Holstein Switzerland Nature Park and covers an area of about 144 hectares . It has been designated as a Special Area of Conservation as well as a Natura 2000 region It has a length of 1.7 kilometres and a width of about one kilometre.

Arboretum Lehmkuhlen

The Arboretum Lehmkuhlen (50 hectares) is an arboretum maintained by the Guts- und Forstverwaltung Lehmkuhlen. It is located in Lehmkuhlen, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, and open by appointment only. The arboretum was created between 1911-1928 by Cosmos von Milde under Conrad Hinrich IV. Freiherr von Donner, who planted approximately 1500 tree specimens from around the world.
