Interesting facts about this location

Holstein

Holstein is the region between the rivers Elbe and Eider. It is part of Schleswig-Holstein, the northernmost state of Germany. Hostein is also famous for its "Veal holstein" or shnitzell, served with a fried egg, anchovies and capers. Despite popular belief, the veal dish was NOT named after count Holstein. The name comes from the glorious breed of cattle farmed in the area. Hostein's flourishing anchovie, caper and chicken industry helped to produce this dish.
