Sydals Municipality

Until January 1, 2007 Sydals was a municipality in South Jutland County on the southern part of the island of Als off the east coast of the Jutland peninsula in south Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 95 km², and had a total population of 6,527 (2005). Its last mayor was Jens Peter Kock. The site of its municipal council was the town of Hørup. Other towns in the municipality were Høruphav, Lysabild, Mommark, Skovby, and Sønderby.

Olpenitz

Olpenitz is a part of the town Kappeln in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, at the mouth of the Schlei firth to the Baltic Sea. Sønderborg Castle

German submarine U-37 (1938)

German submarine U-37 was a Type IXA U-boat of the Nazi German Kriegsmarine during World War II. The submarine was laid down on 15 March 1937 at the AG Weser yard in Bremen, launched on 14 May 1938, and commissioned on 4 August 1938 under the command of Kapitänleutnant Heinrich Schuch as part of the 6th U-boat Flotilla.

Battle of Dybbøl

The Battle of Dybbøl (Danish: Slaget ved Dybbøl; German: Erstürmung der Düppeler Schanzen) was the key battle of the Second Schleswig War and occurred on the morning of 18 April 1864 following a siege starting on 7 April. Denmark suffered a severe defeat against Prussia, which decided the war. Dybbøl was also a battlefield in the First Schleswig War.
