Strymonian Gulf

The Strymonian or Strymonic Gulf in Greece is a branch of the Thracian Sea—itself part of the Aegean Sea—lying east of the Chalcidice peninsula and south of the Serres regional unit. The official name is Orfano Gulf (Κόλπος Ορφανού). The river Strymon empties into the gulf.

Struma (river)

The Struma or Strymónas is a river in Bulgaria and Greece. Its ancient name was Strymōn. Its catchment area is 10,800 km². It takes its source from the Vitosha Mountain in Bulgaria, runs first westward, then southward, enters Greek territory at the Kula village. In Greece it is the main waterway feeding and exiting from Lake Kerkini, a significant centre for migratory wildfowl. The river flows into the Strymonian Gulf in Aegean Sea, near Amphipolis in the Serres regional unit.

Stagira (ancient city)

Stagira (/stəˈdʒaɪ. rə/) or Stageira was an ancient Greek city on the Chalkidiki peninsula and is chiefly known for being the birthplace of Aristotle, who was a Greek philosopher and polymath, a student of Plato and teacher of Alexander the Great. The city lies approximately 8 kilometres north northeast of the present-day village of Stagira, close to the town of Olympiada. Stagira was founded in 655 BC by Ionian settlers from Andros. Xerxes I of Persia occupied it in 480 BC.

Lefkotopos

Levkotopos is a village in the municipal unit of Achinos, Serres regional unit, Central Macedonia, Greece. It has 242 inhabitants. In Lefkotopos is situated the KEP of the municipal unit of Achinos. The village was founded on 1922, by Pontic Greeks, also by Greek inhabitants of North-East Anatolia, an area whose population has been Greek since the early Greek history, and who were expelled from their homes in 1922, by the Turks.
