Lake Kerkini

Lake Kerkini, is an artificial reservoir that was created in 1932, and then redeveloped in 1980, on the site of what was previously an extremely extensive marshland. Before 1932, there were irregular marsh lakes on Strymon, one of them called "Podkova" Ottoman Turkish: ݒودقوه كولي Podkova Gölü http://pds. lib. harvard. edu/pds/view/4952983?n=17 became the mother of Kerkini.

Chortero

Chortero is a village in the municipality Sintiki, Macedonian region of Greece, 24 km from the city of Serres. As of 2001, Chortero comprises 656 inhabitants, the majority of whom are farmers. Potatoes are the main crop. Its football team is named Elpis Chorterou.

Greek National Road 63

Greek National Road 63 is a national highway in northern Greece. It connects Serres with Promachonas on the Bulgarian border, via Sidirokastro. It is part of the European route E79.

Lachanas Military Museum

The Lachanas Military Museum (Greek: Στρατιωτικό Μουσείο Λαχανά) is a Military museum near Thessaloniki, Greece, dedicated to the Battle of Kilkis-Lahanas. The museum, which is visitable by appointment, chiefly contains mementoes of the Greek and Bulgarian military units which took part in the battle. In the forecourt there are three captured Bulgarian cannons, one of 12 cm calibre, one of 5 cm calibre, and one muzzle-loader.

Rupel Pass

The Rupel Gorge or Rupel Pass is a steep river valley in the northern part of Central Macedonia, immediately south of the Greek-Bulgarian border. It was formed by the Strymon River, which stems from the Vitosha mountains and flows into the Aegean Sea. The gorge is rich in biodiversity which may be endangered by the project to build the Motorway 25 which is a part of European route E79.
