Lagkadikia is a village located in the regional unit of Thessaloniki, in Greece, north-east of Mount Chortiatis. It has facilities such as "Lagkadikia HighSchool (Gymnasio Lyceum)" and "Agronomy Department" that are used by many conterminous villages, as it is located on a cross-road between the lakes Koroneia and Volvi. The village has about 800 permanent inhabitants.

Lake Koroneia
Lake Koroneia is a lake in the heart of the Thessaloniki regional unit in the Mygdonian basin in Greece. The lake is also known as Agios Vasileios after an homonymous village and as Lake Langada. It is located about 12 kilometres east of downtown Thessaloniki. The motorway Egnatia Odos passes along the north side of the lake, and the old Greek National Road 2 passes along the south side. The municipalities with shores on the lake are Koroneia, Langadas, and Egnatia.

The Great Thessaloniki Earthquake (Greek: Μεγάλος Σεισμός της Θεσσαλονίκης) was an earthquake that occurred on 20 June 1978, at 22:03 local time, and registered 6.6 on the moment magnitude scale. It was felt throughout northern Greece, Yugoslavia and Bulgaria. It was the largest seismic activity in the area since 1932.
