Foloi oak forest

The Folóï oak forest is an oak forest in southwestern Greece. It is located in the municipal unit Foloi, Elis, in the western part of the Peloponnese peninsula. The Folóï oak forest is situated at an altitude of 688m, on the plateau of the Folóï mountain. It is an ecosystem unique in the Balkan peninsula and consists of a territory of 9,900 acres, which is almost entirely covered by deciduous oaks that form a dense forest area.

Amphidolis

Amphidolis or Amphidolia (Greek: Αμφιδολίς / Αμφιδολία) was an ancient city north of Olympia, Greece and was a market town. It was situated on the mountain road that runs from Elis to Olympia. In earlier times it was a city in the Pisatis district. Amphidolis is mentioned by Strabo in his Geographica as a market town near the town Alesiaeum (formerly Aleisium). People from Amphidolis took part in the Battle of Nemea (394 BCE) as slingers. They also served in the Trojan War.
