It is located in Karang Bangun, Kecamatan Matesih, Kabupaten Karanganyar, Central Java province on the slopes of the Mount Lawu mountain complex approximately 35 kilometres to the east of the city of Solo. The archaic Javanese prose title translates as "Palace of the risen mountain".
