Kingdom of Pajang

The Kingdom of Pajang (1568–1586) was a short-lived Muslim state in Java. It was established by Hadiwijaya or Jaka Tingkir, Lord of Boyolali, after ending civil war in and as successor to Sultanate of Demak. Hadiwijaya claimed to be a descendant of Brawijaya V, the last king of Majapahit, and Trenggana, the Sunan of Demak.

Kartosuro

Kartosuro (also spelled Kartasura) is an Indonesian subdistrict (Kecamatan) in the Sukoharjo Regency, Central Java. Adi Sumarmo International Airportis an airport in Solo, Central Java, Indonesia. It is located 14 km north of the city. Sangiran is an archaeological excavation site in Java in Indonesia. According to a UNECSO report (1995) "Sangiran is recognized by scientists to be one of the most important sites in the world for studying fossil man, ranking alongside Zhoukoudian (China), Willandra Lakes (Australia), Olduvai Gorge (Tanzania), and Sterkfontein (South Africa), and more fruitful in finds than any of these. " The area comprises about 56 km² (7km x 8km).
