Barusjahe
Barusjahe is a subdistrict and village of Karo Regency. It is a major production centre for growing oranges, and for cut flowers. It is located in the east of Karo regency, bordering Merek subdistrict to the south, Simalungun Regency to the southeast, and Deli Serdang Regency to the north east. To the west is Tigapanah subdistrict. It is 16km from Kabanjahe, and 101 km from Medan. The elevation is 1200 metres, and the area is 128.04 square kilometres. There are 19 desa within Barusjahe.

Garuda Indonesia Flight 152
Garuda Indonesia Flight 152 (GA152, GIA152) was a scheduled domestic Indonesian passenger flight from Jakarta to Medan, North Sumatra, operated by state owned flag carrier Garuda Indonesia. On Friday, September 26, 1997, the Airbus A300B4 flying this route, registered PK-GAI, crashed into woodlands 29 km (18 miles) from Medan in low visibility. All 234 passengers and crew were killed in the disaster.

Sipisopiso
The Sipisopiso is a plunge waterfall in the Batak highlands of Sumatra. It is formed by a small underground river of the Karo plateau that hurls itself from a cave in the side of the lake Toba caldera some 120 meters (360 feet) down to lake level. This fact earns it the title for the highest waterfall in Indonesia. Sipisopiso is a well-known tourist attraction and a nearby vantage point offers great vistas of the fall and the lake.
