Teppe Hasanlu

Teppe Hasanlu or Tappeh Hassanlu is an archeological site of an ancient city located in northwest Iran (in the province of West Azerbaijan), a short distance south of Lake Urmia. The nature of its destruction at the end of the 9th century BC essentially froze one layer of the city in time, providing researchers with extremely well preserved buildings, artifacts, and skeletal remains from the victims and enemy combatants of the attack.

Mahabad Dam

Mahabad dam is a hydroelectric dam near the city of Mahabad, West Azerbaijan province, Iran. It was built before Islamic revolution by Yugoslavian engineers and is one of ten largest dams in Iran. On average, the total volume of annual water input is equal to 339.304 million cubic meters. Mahabad–Sardasht Road and Mahabad-Piranshahr Road pass along this beautiful lake. Scenic areas around the lake include the islands Qazîabad, Serî Meydan and Taqeda (single tree).

Mukriyan

Mukriyan, was a Kurdish emirate centered at Mahabad, ruling areas to the south and west of lake Urmia, since the end of 15th century until the middle of 19th century. Before Mukris the region was ruled by Hadhabanis. During battle of Dimdim Mukriyanis rallied around Kurds of Bradost (Baradost). Region of Mukriyan which encompasses numerous cities such as Mahabad and Bukan, Piranshahr, Naghadeh and Oshnaviyeh. The region is officially part of the West Azarbaijan Province in Iran.
