Hibhib

Hibhib is a small village in northern Iraq, located 8 km, northwest of the town of Baquba. A previous leader of Al Qaeda in Iraq, Jordanian-born militant Abu Musab al-Zarqawi maintained a safehouse in the village. He was meeting with his spiritual advisor when the house was bombed by aircraft from the U.S. -led multinational coalition force, killing him.

Abu Musab al-Zarqawi

Abu Musab al-Zarqawi; October 30, 1966 – June 7, 2006, born Ahmad Fadeel al-Nazal al-Khalayleh was a Jordanian militant Islamist who ran a paramilitary training camp in Afghanistan. He became known after going to Iraq and being responsible for a series of bombings, beheadings, and attacks during the Iraq War. He formed al-Tawhid wal-Jihad in the 1990s, and led it until his death in June 2006.

Al Khalis

Al Khalis, Khalis or Al Khales is a town roughly 15 kilometers (9 mi) North of Baqubah in one of the six districts of the Diyala Governorate. In the Arabic language, Al Khalis translates to the word pure. The word is derived from the verb Khalasa which translates to "rid off". Al Khalis now is a collection of many neighbourhoods which was built around a tiny farming village known as Alibat.
