Battle of Callann

The Battle of Callann was fought in August 1261 between the Normans, under John FitzGerald, and the Gaelic forces of Fínghin Mac Carthaigh, King of Desmond, ancestor of the MacCarthy Reagh dynasty. It took place in the townland of Callan or Collon near modern day Kilgarvan, County Kerry. MacCarthaigh was victorious.

Knockboy

Knockboy (An Cnoc Buí in Irish, meaning Yellow Mountain) is a 706-metre-high mountain on the border between counties Cork and Kerry in Ireland. It is the highest peak in the Shehy mountain range and the highest mountain in County Cork with its summit shared with County Kerry. It is the 104th highest peak in Ireland.

Mangerton Mountain

Mangerton or Mangerton Mountain is a mountain in County Kerry, Republic of Ireland. At a height of 839 m (2,753 ft) it is the tallest of the Mangerton range and 25th tallest in Ireland. Its western slope lies within Killarney National Park.

Torc Waterfall

Torc Waterfall is a waterfall at the base of Torc Mountain, about 5 miles from Killarney in County Kerry, Ireland. The falls are one of the landmarks on the 200 kilometre Kerry Way walking tour, and are encompassed in the Killarney National Park. Red deer are frequently seen and heard in the area. Easy access and parking make the site popular with walkers and tour bus groups, who often visit as part of the Ring of Kerry tour.
