Interesting facts about this location

Shefer

Shefer is a moshav located near Safed in northern Israel. It belongs to the Merom HaGalil Regional Council, and it is founded on the land of the depopulated Palestinian village of Farradiyya. The moshav was founded in 1950 as a work village for immigrants to Israel from Yemen. After the founders abandoned it, a new moshav was founded in the same location by immigrants from North Africa. The name "Shefer" is borrowed from the blessing Jacob bestowed on Naftali in the Book of Genesis .

Parod

Parod is a kibbutz in the Upper Galilee near Safed in northern Israel. It belongs to the Merom HaGalil Regional Council The community was founded in 1949 by immigrants to Israel from Hungary, on land belonging to the ethnically cleansed Palestinian village of Farradiyya. The name "Parod" is based on the name of the ancient Jewish community Paradia. The name, which means "separated," might also hint at the community's location on the border between the Upper and Lower Galilee.

Ari Ashkenazi Synagogue

The Ari Ashkenazi Synagogue, located in Safed, Israel, was built in memory of Rabbi Isaac Luria, (1534 - 1572), who was known as the "Ari". It dates from the late 16th-century, it being constructed several years after the death of Luria, a great kabbalist who arrived in Safed in 1570. A Hebrew inscription above the entrance lintel reads: "How awe-inspiring is this place, the synagogue of the Ari of blessed memory. ” The synagogue is known for its colorful and ornate Holy Ark.

Ein al-Asad

Ein al-Asad is a Druze village in northern Israel. Located near Maghar in the Galilee, it falls under the jurisdiction of Merom HaGalil Regional Council. In 2006 it had a population of 806. The community was founded in 1899 by Druze people from Beit Jann, and was named after an eponymous wellspring outside the village.

Hazon, Israel

Hazon is a moshav in the Upper Galilee in northern Israel. It falls under the jurisdiction of Merom HaGalil Regional Council. It is located nine kilometers east of Carmiel, and as of 2005, its population was about 500. Hazon takes its name from the slopes of Mount Hazon, where it resides. It was founded in 1969 by moshavniks from the Galillee. Southeast of the moshav lie the ruins of Hazor, which has remnants from the Iudaea Province era.
