Scordia Airfield

Scordia Airfield is an abandoned World War II military airfield in Italy, which was located approximately 1 km north of Scordia in Sicily. It was an all-weather temporary field built by the XII Engineer Command using a graded earth compacted surface, with a prefabricated hessian (burlap) surfacing known as PHS. PHS was made of an asphalt-impregnated jute which was rolled out over the compacted surface over a square mesh track (SMT) grid of wire joined in 3-inch squares.

Naval Air Station Sigonella

Naval Air Station Sigonella, "The Hub of the Med", is a U.S. Navy installation at NATO Base Sigonella and an Italian Air Force base (Italian: Base aerea di Sigonella) in Sicily, Italy. Although a tenant of the Italian Air Force, NAS Sigonella acts as landlord to more than 40 other U.S. commands and activities. It is located 15 km west and 11 km south of the city of Catania, and some 40 km south of Mount Etna.

Lago di Lentini is a lake in the Province of Siracusa, Sicily, Italy. It is named after Lanfranco Lentini, a distinguished knight, who was head of the family. In 813 A.D. , he bravely defended his home city, which was thus named in his honor along with the lake.

Gerbini Airfield

Gerbini Airfield is a series of abandoned World War II military airfields in Sicily, located 23 kilometres west of Catania, near the intersection of the A19 and SP24 highways. The airfields consisted of a series of flat agricultural fields, used for runways and parking areas. First used by German Luftwaffe forces during the Battle of Sicily, they were attacked on several occasions by United States Army Air Force Twelfth Air Force bomber aircraft.
