Gražutė Regional Park

Gražutė Regional Park, established in 1992, covers 29,741 hectares in northeast Lithuania. About 20% of its territory consists of lakes, including Lake Šventas and Lake Luodis, and wetlands; forests cover about 55% of the land. Several villages that include sites with architectural and historical value are located within the park.

Stelmužė

Stelmužė is a village in Zarasai district municipality of Lithuania. There is a wooden chapel built in 1650 not using saws or iron nails; it is the oldest wooden religious building in Lithuania. Stelmužė is also known for the Tower of Slaves, a rectangular building constructed of stone and bricks in the 18th century, used for imprisonment of serfs. The village is famous for its Stelmužė Oak, the oldest in Lithuania and one of the oldest in Europe.

Stelmužė Oak

Stelmužė Oak is an English (Pedunculate) oak tree which grows in the former Stelmužė Manor park by Stelmužė village, Lithuania. The oak measures 3.5 m in diameter and 13 m in girth at its widest part; being 2.8 m. and 9.58 m at waist level. The oak reaches 23 m in height with only side branches remaining alive. It is believed to be at least 1,500 years old, possibly, as much as 2,000 years old; this makes it the oldest oak in Lithuania and one of the oldest in Europe.
