Campo, California

Campo is a census-designated place (CDP) located in the Mountain Empire area of southeastern San Diego County, California. The population was 2,684 at the 2010 census. This article also describes the smaller community of Cameron Corners, about 1 mile (1.6 km) south and the village of Lake Morena which is the northern part of Campo. Both communities use postal addresses in Campo. The town is approximately 2,620 feet (798.6 m) above mean sea level.

Campo Indian Reservation

The Campo Indian Reservation is home to the Campo Band of Diegueno Mission Indians, also known as the Campo Kumeyaay Nation, a federally recognized tribe of Kumeyaay people in San Diego County, California. The reservation was founded in 1893 and is 15,010 acres large.

La Posta Astro-Geophysical Observatory

John William Finn

John William Finn (July 23, 1909 – May 27, 2010) was a sailor in the United States Navy who, as a chief petty officer, received the United States military's highest decoration, the Medal of Honor, for his actions during the attack on Pearl Harbor in World War II. As a chief aviation ordnanceman stationed at Naval Air Station Kaneohe Bay, he earned the medal by manning a machine gun from an exposed position throughout the attack, despite being repeatedly wounded.
