Vărăncău, Transnistria

Vărăncău is a commune in Transnistria, Moldova, consisting of three villages: Vărăncău, Buschi (Буськи), and Gherşunovca (Гершунівка). It is located 15 km SE of Râbniţa. The village Vărăncău is the site of the Church of the Blessed Virgin's Assumption, a Christian Orthodox church, construction of which was completed in 1800. Since then, the church has been open and functioning, standing much as it did when it first opened its doors.

The district contains this city and 22 communes : Rîbniţa is located along the river Dniester, in the northern half of Transnsitria.

Rîbnița

Rîbnița is a city in Moldova. The city is under the administration of the breakaway government of the Transnistria. According to the 2004 Census in Transnistria, it has a population of 53,648. Rîbniţa is situated in the northern half of Transnistria, on the left bank of the Dniester, and separated from the river by a concrete dam. The city is the seat of the Rîbnița sub-district.
