Havelte is a village in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is a part of the municipality of Westerveld, and lies about 17 km west of Hoogeveen. Havelte was a separate municipality until 1998, when it became a part of Westerveld. In 2001, the village of Havelte had 2770 inhabitants. The built-up area of the village was 1.1 km², and contained 1207 residences. The statistical area "Havelte", which also can include the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 3630.

Steenwijk
Steenwijk is a city in the Dutch province of Overijssel. It is located in the municipality of Steenwijkerland. It is the largest town of the municipality. Steenwijk received city rights in 1327. In the Eighty Years' War (1568–1648) it was conquered by the Spaniards in 1581, but regained by the Dutch in 1592. Steenwijk was a separate municipality until 2001, when it merged with Brederwiede and IJsselham.

Nijeveen
Nijeveen is a village in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is a part of the municipality of Meppel, and lies about 5 km northwest of Meppel. Nijeveen was a separate municipality until 1998, when it was merged with Meppel. Since 1976 there is a German windmill named De Sterrenberg which is the only one in all Netherlands with the cap winded by a fantail. In 2008, Nijeveen had 3880 inhabitants.
