Well is a small town of about 2500 residents in the municipality of Bergen in the province of Limburg in the southeastern part of the Netherlands. The town is located between Nijmegen and Venlo. Holthees is a very small village in the municipality of Boxmeer on the border of the Dutch provinces North Brabant and Limburg. It has 455 inhabitants (2011) and 185 houses (2011) The name Holthees was mentioned for the first time in 1359. It is a composition of the German words hulta (wood) and hees (forest of thicket) The town was founded around a chapel; the Mariakapel. The chapel which now stands in the center of the village dates back from the 16th century.
