Holthees
Holthees is a very small village in the municipality of Boxmeer on the border of the Dutch provinces North Brabant and Limburg. It has 455 inhabitants (2011) and 185 houses (2011) The name Holthees was mentioned for the first time in 1359. It is a composition of the German words hulta (wood) and hees (forest of thicket) The town was founded around a chapel; the Mariakapel. The chapel which now stands in the center of the village dates back from the 16th century.

Battle of Overloon
The Battle of Overloon was a Second World War battle between Allied forces and the German army which took place in and around the village of Overloon in the south-east of the Netherlands between 30 September and 18 October 1944. The battle, which resulted in an Allied victory, ensued after the Allies launched Operation Aintree. The Allies went on to liberate the town of Venray.

Overloon War Museum
The National War and Resistance Museum of the Netherlands is located at Overloon, municipality Boxmeer. The museum is located on the site of the Battle of Overloon, a World War II tank and infantry battle between Allied and German forces that occurred in September and October 1944, in the aftermath of Operation Market Garden. Set in 14 hectares of woodland, it is one of two museums in an area now designated as Liberty Park.
