Great Barrier Aerodrome
Great Barrier Aerodrome is the major airfield of the three on Great Barrier Island. It is a small, uncontrolled aerodrome 1 nautical mile (1.9 km) north-east of Claris on Great Barrier Island in the Hauraki Gulf off the North Island of New Zealand. It has scheduled passenger and freight services with many flights per day from North Shore Airfield, Auckland, and less frequently from Auckland International Airport and Whangarei Airport. Fuel is not available.

Windy Canyon
Windy Canyon is a canyon and associated walking track on Great Barrier Island, New Zealand. Located in the centre east of the island, the canyon is a spectacular natural site, a wind funnel shaped from andesitic rock. The canyon perches on one of the highest stretches of the island, less than 200 m below the 621 m summit of Mount Hobson (the highest point of the island). Spectacular views of the Okiwi and Awana lowlands (north, respectively south of the canyon) can be had from it.

Wairahi River
The Wairahi River is a river of New Zealand's Great Barrier Island. It is the only river (so named) on the island — the island's other watercourses all having names ending is "stream". The Wairahi flows generally west, roughly paralleling the island's long southwestern shore, from its origins north of Whangaparapara Harbour. A walking track from Whangaparapara to Port Fitzroy follows the river for part of its length.

Mount Hobson is the highest mountain on Great Barrier Island, New Zealand. Located in the centre of the island, it rises 621 m above sea level. Various mountain tracks allow relatively easy access to the summit, with the shortest (2 hour) track leading through the famous Windy Canyon. Great views over the island, to the Coromandel Peninsula and the Poor Knights Islands are often possible from the top of the mountain.

The remote island was initially exploited for its minerals and kauri trees and saw only some limited agriculture.
