Seddon, New Zealand

Seddon is a small town in Marlborough, New Zealand. It is located on State Highway 1, 25 kilometres south of Blenheim and 20 km north of Ward. Seddon is located close to the mouths of the Awatere and Blind Rivers, and also close to the Lake Grassmere salt works. Salt and lime are major local industries, and the Awatere Valley is a developing wine region. The population was 510 in the 2006 Census, an increase of 36 from 2001.

The Blind (Otuwhero) River is a small river in the Marlborough district of New Zealand. It flows into Clifford Bay 4km north of Lake Grassmere. A small settlement named Blind River is located on its south bank.

Awatere River

The Awatere River is a large river flowing through Marlborough, New Zealand. Flowing along the trace of the active Awatere Fault, it runs northeast through a straight valley to the west of the Inland Kaikoura mountains. This valley is parallel with that of the Clarence River, 20 kilometres to the south. It flows for 110 kilometres from its source in the mountainous interior to reach Cook Strait close to the town of Seddon. Until 2008 the Awatere River bridge had a rail line above the road way.

Clifford Bay, New Zealand

Clifford Bay is a bay in the northeast of the South Island of New Zealand, in the Marlborough Region. It lies between Cloudy Bay to the northwest, and Cape Campbell, the easternmost point of the South Island. The bay's most notable feature is the solar salt extraction works at Lake Grassmere, close to the southern end of the bay. Since the 1920s, there have been various proposals for an inter-island port and ferry terminal to replace Picton, the last time being in 1995.
