Pelorus River

The Pelorus River is a river at the northern end of South Island of New Zealand in the region of Marlborough. It flows from the Richmond Range into Pelorus Sound. This area is fantastic for camping and is renowned for its magnificent river swimming where the Pelorus River runs through a gorge.

Pelorus Sound

Pelorus Sound is the largest of the sounds which make up the Marlborough Sounds at the north of the South Island, New Zealand. The Marlborough Sounds is a system of drowned river valleys, which were formed after the last ice age around 10,000 years ago. Pelorus Sound has a main channel which winds south from Cook Strait for about 55 kilometres, between steeply sloped wooded hills, until it reached its head close to Havelock town.

Opouri River

The Opouri River is a river of the Marlborough Region of New Zealand's South Island. It flows generally west from its sources in the Bull Range, a coastal ridge overlooking the Marlborough Sounds, joining with the Rai River 15 kilometres west of Havelock.
