Lake Rotorangi

Lake Rotorangi is the largest lake in the New Zealand region of Taranaki. The reservoir was created in 1984 by the damming of the Patea River.

Patea Dam

The Patea Dam is a high compacted earth fill–type hydroelectric dam in New Zealand, constructed between 1979 and 1984. The Patea Hydro Electric Scheme first produced power in May 1984. After construction difficulties, wetter than normal conditions had caused a six-month delay. It is operated by TrustPower. The dam is 82 metres tall, the fourth highest in New Zealand. It was the first dam constructed using tertiary sandstone and siltstone as fill materials.

Tututawa

Tututawa is a locality and rural centre in east Taranaki, New Zealand, 26 km east of Stratford, with a population of approximately 40. The settlement is centred 5 km south of Ohura Road, at the intersection of Mangaotuku Road and Tututawa Road. Positioned approximately 150m above sea level, Tututawa is nestled in a valley amongst high sandstone/greywacke ridgelines. Within the area are the historic localities of Tewheniwheni, Mangaehu and Tawhiwhi.

Makuri Stream

The Makuri Stream is a tributary of the Patea River, in the upper catchment among the eastern Taranaki hill country. The Makuri catchment falls entirely within the Stratford district, and takes in the settlements of Huinga, Huiroa and Kiore.
