Gadani ship-breaking yard

Gadani ship-breaking yard is the world's third largest ship breaking yard. The yard consists of 132 ship-breaking plots located across a 10 km long beachfront at Gadani, Pakistan, about 50 kilometres northwest of Karachi. In the 1980s, Gadani was the largest ship-breaking yard in the world, with more than 30,000 direct employees.

Gadani

Gadani is a coastal village of Lasbela District located in the southern part of Balochistan along the Arabian Sea, Pakistan. It is also a Union Council of Hub Tehsil and is just a 1 hour drive away from Karachi, Sindh. The population of Gadani was estimated to be around 10,000 in 2005. More than 97% of the population is Muslim with a small Hindu minority. The majority of population speaks Balochi and there is a large Sindhi speaking minority.

Hub, Balochistan

Hub (also known as Hub Chowki) is the capital city of the Hub Tehsil, located in the Lasbela District of Baluchistan. Hub is an Industrial city of Balochistan, its original name is Hub Chowki, once upon a time there was a Police Check post(known as chowki in Urdu) called Nakahi. After development of Factories and many companies this town changed its name to Hub. It is famous as it has the largest industrial estate of Baluchistan known as HITE(Hub Industrial and Trading Estate).

Churna Island

Churna Island is a small uninhabited Pakistani island located in the Arabian Sea, about 9 km west of the mouth of the Hub river, at the boundary between the provinces of Balochistan and Sindh. Churna is approximately 1.2 km long and 0.5 km wide. Churna is mostly used as a firing range by the Pakistan Navy.
