Khanpur Dam

Khanpur Dam is a dam located on the Haro River near Potowar Plateau and the village of Khanpur, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, about 25 miles (40 km) from Islamabad, Pakistan. It caters to domestic water supplies in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, and irrigation water to many of the agricultural and industrial areas surrounding the cities. The dam was completed in 1983 after a 15-year construction period believed to have cost Rs. 1,352 million.

Khanpur, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Khanpur is a large village and one of the 44 union councils, administrative subdivisions, of Haripur District in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. It is located to the south of the district capital Haripur at 33°48'53N 72°56'22E, and about 30 km from Islamabad in a beautiful green hilly place. It is famous throughout Pakistan for its oranges and is also known for the Khanpur Dam. This dam drowned the old, original village and the present one was later made to replace it.

Mohra Muradu

Mohra Muradu is the place of an ancient Buddhist stupa and monastery near the ruins of Taxila, in the Punjab province of Pakistan. The ancient monastery is located in a valley and offers a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains. The monks could meditate in all stillness at this place but were near enough to the city of Sirsukh to go for begging as it is only around 1.5 km away. The city was built in the 2nd century CE and renovated in the 5th century. Thus it belongs to the Kushan age.

Margalla Hills

The Margalla Hills — also called the Margalla Mountain Range, is a hill range part of the lesser Himalayas located north of Islamabad, Pakistan. Margalla Range has an area of 12,605 hectares. The hills are a part of Murree hills. It is a range with many valleys as well as high mountains. The hill range nestles between an elevation of 685 meters at the western end and 1,604 meters on its east with average height of 1000 meters. Its highest peak is Tilla Charouni.
