Ponson Island

Ponson Island is an island located in the province of Cebu, located east of Cebu Island and west of Leyte Island. Pilar, Cebu is the island's sole municipality. It is one of the four Camotes Islands along with Pacijan Island, Poro Island, and Tulang Island. This island is composed of thirteen barangays which is also composed of three sitio. There is no telephone line in this island and the electricity is available from 11:00 A.M. until 5:00 A.M.

USS Mahan (DD-364)

The second USS Mahan (DD-364) was the lead ship of the Mahan class destroyers of the United States Navy. She was named for Rear Admiral Alfred Thayer Mahan, a leading 19th century naval historian and strategic theorist. The builder of Mahan was United Dry Docks, Inc. , successor to Morse Dry Dock and Repair Company, Staten Island, New York. Her keel was laid down on 12 June 1934; launched on 15 October 1935, and sponsored by Miss Kathleen H. Mahan, the admiral's great-granddaughter.

The Camotes Islands are a group of islands that form part of the province of Cebu, in the Philippines. The island group is located east of Cebu Island, southwest of Leyte Island, and north of Bohol Island. It is 34 nautical miles from Cebu City. Camotes Island is made up of 4 islands and their municipalities On Poro Island are the municipalities of Poro and Tudela. Pacijan Island's sole municipality is San Francisco. Ponson Island's sole municipality is Pilar.

Japanese destroyer Naganami

Japanese destroyer Naganami was a Yūgumo-class destroyer of the Imperial Japanese Navy. During the 30 November 1942 Battle of Tassafaronga, Naganami led a supply-drum transport run to Guadalcanal (cover), and engaged a U.S. cruiser-destroyer group. During this action, she possibly torpedoed USS Pensacola (CA-24), and/or Northampton. On October 23, 1944, during the Battle of Leyte Gulf, Naganami escorted Admiral Kurita's 1st Diversion Attack Force.
