General MacArthur, Eastern Samar

General MacArthur is a 5th class municipality in the province of Eastern Samar, Philippines. According to the 2007 census, it has a population of 12,148 people. The town was created from the barrios of Pambujan Sur, Calutan, San Isidro, Vigan, Binalay, Camcueves, Domrog and Pingan of the town of Hernani by virtue of Republic Act No. 193, enacted on June 22, 1947.

Guiuan, Eastern Samar

Guiuan is a 2nd class municipality in the province of Eastern Samar, Philippines. As of the year 2004, it had a population of 43,169 people in 7,618 households. Guiuan played a significant part in Philippine history. In the 16th century, when Ferdinand Magellan discovered the Philippines, it is believed that he first landed on the island of Homonhon. It is probably because of this that the majority of the population of the town are Catholics.
