San Juanico Strait

San Juanico Strait is a narrow strait in the Philippines. It separates the islands of Samar and Leyte. At its narrowest point, the strait is only 2 kilometers wide, said to be the narrowest strait in the world. It is crossed by the San Juanico Bridge. The HVDC Leyte - Luzon powerline crosses San Juanico Strait as overhead line at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:11|23|36|N|124|59|04|E|type:landmark | |name= }} with a tower on an ininhibitated island in the strait.

Babatngon, Leyte

Babatngon is a 3rd class municipality in the province of Leyte, Philippines. According to the 2010 census, it has a population of 25,552 people. Babatngon is located in the northern part of the island of Leyte, along the shore of Carigara Bay. It is situated on a small plain set in a semicircle of mountain ranges and nestles in the northern mouth of the panoramic San Juanico Strait, which separates Samar from Leyte.

San Juanico Bridge

The San Juanico Bridge, part of the Pan-Philippine Highway, stretches from Samar to Leyte across the San Juanico Strait in the Philippines. Its longest length is a steel girder viaduct built on reinforced concrete piers, and its main span is of an arch-shaped truss design. With a total length of 2.16 kilometers, it is the longest bridge in the Philippines spanning a body of seawater. It is considered one of the most beautifully designed bridges in Philippines.
