San Juanico Strait

San Juanico Strait is a narrow strait in the Philippines. It separates the islands of Samar and Leyte. At its narrowest point, the strait is only 2 kilometers wide, said to be the narrowest strait in the world. It is crossed by the San Juanico Bridge. Daniel Z. Romualdez Airport, also known as DZR Airport or Tacloban Domestic Airport, is an airport serving the general area of Tacloban City, in Leyte, Philippines. It is the main gateway from Manila and Cebu to the Eastern Visayas Region in central Philippines. It is a Class 1 principal (major domestic) airport by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, the agency responsible for the operations of all the airports in the Philippines excluding the major international airports.

San Juanico Bridge

The San Juanico Bridge, part of the Pan-Philippine Highway, stretches from Samar to Leyte across the San Juanico Strait in the Philippines. Its longest length is a steel girder viaduct built on reinforced concrete piers, and its main span is of an arch-shaped truss design. With a total length of 2.16 kilometers, it is the longest bridge in the Philippines spanning a body of seawater. It is considered one of the most beautifully designed bridges in Philippines.
