Serpeysk

Serpeysk is a village in Meshchovsky District of Kaluga Oblast, Russia, located on the Serpeyka River. It was first noted in 1406 as a military fort on the boundary between Muscovy and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. During the 16th and 17th centuries, the town changed hands several times. It was definitively incorporated into Muscovite Russia after the Smolensk War in 1634. Once stripped of its garrison, the town dwindled into oblivion.

Sukhinichi

Sukhinichi is a town and the administrative center of Sukhinichsky District of Kaluga Oblast, Russia, a large railway junction on the Moscow–Bryansk line, situated on the Bryn River 105 kilometers southwest of Kaluga. Population: 16,273; 16,387; 17,762. It was founded as a selo in the first half of the 18th century. It was granted town status in 1840. It has grown mainly due to the development of the railway.
