Kurovskoye

Kurovskoye is a town in Orekhovo-Zuyevsky District of Moscow Oblast, Russia, located on the Nerskaya River 92 kilometers southeast of Moscow. Population: 21,819; 19,507; 21,139. Kurovskoye was first mentioned in the 16th century as a small settlement of Kurovsky (Куровский). In 1646, it was mentioned as a village of Kurovskaya (Куровская). In 1952, it was renamed Kurovskoye and granted town status. Geographically, Kurovskoye is located in what historically used to be the area of Guslitsa.

Guslitsa

Guslitsa, Guslica, or Guslicy is a region situated in the eastern part of Moscow Oblast. Guslitsa is famous for it was almost entirely inhabited by the Old Believers, mainly popovtsy. Name Guslitsa occurs from the Guslitsa River. Guslitsa is also well known for its cultural heritage and its home-crafts, mainly hand-written singing books and copper mouldings. Guslitsa has its center in the Rudnya and Ilyinsky Pogost villages.
