Melikhovo

Melikhovo was the country estate of the Russian playwright and writer Anton Chekhov, where he lived from March 1892 until August 1899, and where he wrote some of his most famous plays and stories, including The Seagull and Uncle Vanya. It is located about forty miles south of Moscow. It is now a museum.

Intercession Monastery (Moscow)

Intercession (Pokrovsky) Monastery (Покровский монастырь) is a Russian Orthodox convent situated in Moscow, in the neighbourhood of Taganka. It has been known since 1635 and long remained a poor monastic abode outside the city proper, neighbouring a large cemetery for commoners. It was a filial monastery of the Zaikonospassky Monastery between 1680 and 1731. Much of the monastery is Neoclassical in design and dates from the early 19th century.
