Borodino (village), Mozhaysky District, Moscow Oblast
Borodino is a rural locality in Mozhaysky District of Moscow Oblast, Russia, located 13 kilometers west of Mozhaysk. The village is famous as the location of the Battle of Borodino, which occurred in what is now known as the "Borodino Battlefield" (Бородинское поле). The State Borodino War and History Museum and Reserve is situated within the Borodino Battlefield. The reserved area is 109.7 square kilometers; the area of the protected zone is 645 square kilometers .

Battle at Borodino Field
The Battle at Borodino Field was a part of the Battle of Moscow, on the Eastern Front of World War II. While referring to the battle in Russian, the Borodino Field is actually more commonly applied rather than just Borodino, cf. Georgy Zhukov ("... this division was forced to cross the arms with the enemy on the Borodino Field... "). At noon on 13 October 1941, German Junkers and Messerschmitt aircraft appeared over the Borodino Field, site of the climactic 1812 French-Russian clash.
