Nara River

Nara River is a river in the Moscow Oblast and Kaluga Oblast in Russia. It is a left tributary of the Oka River. The length of the river is 158 kilometres. The area of its basin is 2030 km². The Nara River freezes up in November–December and stays under the ice until April. The cities of Naro-Fominsk and Serpukhov are located on the Nara River.

UNK proton accelerator

The UNK proton accelerator was a large particle accelerator under construction in Protvino, near Moscow, Russia, at the Institute for High Energy Physics. While progress in construction was announced in 1996, after the breakup of the Soviet Union and the economic changes in the country, government funding to the project was halted and only security and maintenance are funded.

Prioksko-Terrasny Nature Reserve

Prioksko-Terrasny Nature Biosphere Reserve (Russian: Приокско-Террасный государственный природный биосферный заповедник) is one of Russia's smallest zapovedniks, sprawling over an area of 5,000 hectares along the left bank of the Oka River in the Serpukhov District of Moskva Oblast. It was established in 1945 as part of the Moscow Nature Reserve and is home to 900 plant species, 130 bird species, and 54 mammal species.
