Gorne-Uspensky Convent

The Gorne-Uspensky Convent (or simply Gorny Convent is a monastery in Vologda, Russia. It was active between 1590 and 1924. It is situated in the historic part of the town, named Upper Posad, in the area bounded by the Zavrazhskaya, Burmaginy and Mokhov streets. Several of its buildings are preserved or have been restored, while others are partially or completely in ruins. It comprises complex of monuments that have been protected by the federal government.

Spaso-Prilutsky Monastery

The Spaso-Prilutsky Monastery (Russian: Спасо-Прилуцкий Димитриев монастырь) is a Russian Orthodox monastery outside the old city of Vologda, Russia, on the bank of the Vologda River. As of 2011, it was one of the four monasteries still operating in the region. Its history goes back to the 14th-century missionary activities of St. Sergius of Radonezh and his disciples.

Saint Sophia Cathedral, Vologda

Saint Sophia Cathedral is a Russian Orthodox cathedral, the oldest surviving building in the city of Vologda. It was constructed between 1568 and 1570 under personal supervision of Tsar Ivan the Terrible in the period when Vologda was the capital of the Oprichnina lands in Russia, and completed in 1587. The cathedral is located on the right bank of the Vologda River, just outside the former fortress known as the Vologda Kremlin.

Archangelgorod Governorate

Archangelgorod Governorate (Russian: Архангелогородская губерния, Arkhangelogorodskaya guberniya), or the Government of Archangelgorod, was an administrative division of the Russian Empire, which existed from 1708 until 1780. Its seat was in Archangel. The governorate was located in the north of Russian Empire and bordered Siberia Governorate in the east, Kazan Governorate in the south-east, Moscow and Ingermanland Governorates in the south-west, and Sweden in the west.

Vologda Viceroyalty was an administrative division of the Russian Empire, which existed in 1780–1796. The seat of the Viceroyalty was located in Vologda. The viceroyalty was established by a decree of Catherine II on February 5, 1780. It was subdivided into three oblasts: Vologda, Veliky Ustyug, and Arkhangelsk. The predecessor of Vologda Viceroyalty was Archangelgorod Governorate with the seat in Arkhangelsk.
