Bugesera District

Bugesera is a district (akarere) in Eastern Province, Rwanda. Its capital is Nyamata. The district is the location of two memorial sites of the Rwandan Genocide: the Ntarama Genocide Memorial Site and the Nyamata Genocide Memorial Site.

Lake Mugesera

Lake Mugesera is a lake in the Eastern Province, Rwanda. The lake is in the Central Plateau, southeast of Kigali. {{#invoke:Footnotes|sfn}} The lake is part of a complex of lakes and wetlands in a flat valley running in a SSE direction, 35 kilometres wide. The Nyawarungu River meanders southward through the valley, flooding it to create a zone of permanent swamps and lakes. Lake Mugesera lies on the east bank of the river, and is the largest lake in the complex.

École Technique Officielle

The École Technique Officielle was a Salesian secondary school in Kigali, Rwanda. On April 11, 1994, during the 1994 Rwandan Genocide, over 2,000 Rwandans abandoned by the UN, in the school in which they set up base to supervise the peace between the Hutu and Tutsi, were murdered by extremist militia. This event is the subject of the movie Shooting Dogs by Michael Caton-Jones.
