Madrid Ladies Masters

The Madrid Ladies Masters was a professional golf tournament in Spain on the Ladies European Tour. The 54-hole event was held at the par-73 Casino Club de Golf Retamares in early October and played for three years, from 2007 to 2009. The 2009 event finished in a playoff between former college teammates at Arizona State, Azahara Muñoz of Spain and Anna Nordqvist of Sweden. Both had exceptional final rounds and climbed to the top of the leaderboard after 54 holes.

Circuito del Jarama

The Circuito del Jarama (Circuit of Jarama), formerly known as Circuito Permanente del Jarama (Permanent circuit of Jarama) is a 3.404 km race course in Madrid, Spain which has hosted nine Formula One Spanish Grand Prix. Designed by John Hugenholtz, the circuit was built by Alessandro Rocci in 1967 north of Madrid in arid scrub land. It had a short straight and most of the course consisted of tight, twisty corners so overtaking was extremely difficult.

1980 Spanish Grand Prix

The 1980 Spanish Grand Prix (formally the XXVI Gran Premio de Espana) was a Formula One motor race held on June 1, 1980 at Circuito Permanente del Jarama. Originally scheduled to be part of the 1980 Formula One World Championship, following the running of the race it was announced that World Championship points would not be awarded to the competitors, making it a non-championship race. The winner of the race was Alan Jones, driving for the Williams team.
