Barranda

Barranda is a village of Murcia, located in the municipality of Caravaca de la Cruz. According to the 2009 census, the village has 884 inhabitants. Houses in Barranda are distributed throughout the highway. In the central zone of the town, in its main square, popularly well-known like "El Muelle", it is where every year "pregón" is staged, a satirical relation of main events lived by its inhabitants.

2011 Lorca earthquake

The 2011 Lorca earthquake (Spanish: Terremoto de Lorca de 2011) was a moderate magnitude 5.1 Mw earthquake that caused significant localized damage in the Region of Murcia, Spain. Centred at a very shallow depth of 1 km (0.6 mi) near the town of Lorca, it occurred at 18:47 CEST on 11 May 2011, causing panic among locals and displacing many from their homes.

Lorca Castle

Lorca Castle (Spanish: Castillo de Lorca) in Lorca, Murcia, Spain, is a fortress of medieval origin constructed between the 9th and 15th centuries. It consists of a series of defensive structures that, during the Middle Ages, made the town and the fortress an impregnable point in the southeast part of the Iberian Peninsula. Lorca Castle was a key strategic point of contention between Christians and Muslims during the Reconquista. It is listed as a Site of Cultural Interest.
